EU referendum - PwC comments on the impact for healthcare

Quentin Cole, Health industries lead Partner at PwC, commented:

"The resulting insecurities of this result will be felt strongly across the health service.

"The NHS is facing unprecedented financial difficulty and needs a long-term sustainable funding settlement to allow it to navigate the real challenges it faces. This result makes that less likely as we face the very real prospect of economic uncertainty.

"However, this is only Day 1 of a negotiation which could take up to 10 years to complete, and until then, movement within and trade with EU countries will continue – this time needs to be used wisely to find sustainable investment for the health service."
