PwC’s UK insurance practice sponsors Startupbootcamp accelerator
Published at 09:58 AM on 18 September 2015
PwC’s UK insurance practice has joined up with the Insurance accelerator programme at Startupbootcamp, an award-winning accelerator network for startup companies. Based in London, the programme invites global startups to apply to take part in a three-month accelerator programme. The startups, which focus on varying areas of the insurance market including retail insurance, corporate risk management, re-insurance, back-office efficiency and risk models, are provided with funding, mentorship and access to a network of industry partners, investors and venture capital firms from over 30 countries. The insurance practice’s sponsorship builds on PwC’s financial services practice working with Startupbootcamp on a similar programme comprising FinTech opportunities in the wider financial services industry.
Jonathan Howe, PwC’s UK insurance leader, commented:
“The insurance industry is undergoing considerable upheaval, with digital advancements and the possibilities offered by ‘Big Data’ analytics becoming impossible to ignore. Executives are increasingly looking towards startup innovation to help navigate a market filled with opportunities as well as threats.
“We are thrilled to be working with the first global insurance accelerator programme. As technology continues to challenge established business models, it is crucial that firms who wish to become market leaders evolve to better meet changing customer needs and expectations. Startup companies are at the cutting edge of innovation in the insurance sector, which is ripe for disruption. PwC’s insurance experts are looking forward to learning from these innovators, and in turn helping entrepreneurs commercialise their ideas and connecting them to the developed insurance sector, as they strive to stay ahead of the competition."
Nektarios Liolios, co-founder of Startupbootcamp insurance said:
“We’re delighted to enter into a relationship with PwC. Startupbootcamp prides itself on the development of early stage companies by connecting them with the relevant communities in order to thrive and, as a leading advisor for businesses across the world, PwC brings deep industry experience, cutting-edge client insights and a global network, which are key to ensuring startup success.”
