PwC publishes gender pay gap analysis

Published at 09:57 AM on 03 November 2014

PwC has published the findings of its gender pay gap analysis, a first for its industry group. PwC has reported on its diversity targets and data publicly for the past two years and has this year taken the further step of publishing gender pay gap analysis as part of efforts to improve gender equality across its business. PwC joins only a handful of UK businesses that publicly report on their gender pay gap.

Ian Powell, chairman and senior partner at PwC, said:

“By improving transparency and accountability, there is greater opportunity to understand whether opportunities are equal for all across a workforce and whether further action needs to be taken. We have been measuring against our goals and seeing progress – 40% of our internal promotions to partner this year were women, a threefold increase on the number promoted last year.

“Increasing diversity in our business is a top priority and we have introduced a range of initiatives that help all of our people achieve their potential, including Board level mentoring schemes, women’s leadership programmes and diversity training.

"Undertaking an annual equal pay review is a now part of our diversity strategy to make sure opportunities are equal for all, irrespective of gender.

“A sizeable part of the pay gap is often the result of not having enough women in senior positions, so businesses should also be tackling this cause. Organisations need to work hard to address any barriers to women progressing in the workplace. This will go a long way to rebalancing pay for men and women.”
