Simon Hampton, the former head of real estate, gaming and lodging at Jefferies investment bank, has joined PwC to lead its real estate deals practice.

Simon, who joins after four years at Jefferies and 13 years at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, will join PwC's real estate practice as a corporate finance partner. He will lead the real estate deals business, which includes Business Recovery Services, Transaction Services and Corporate Finance, covering M&A, equity and debt capital raising, restructurings, due diligence and other advisory work.

Simon Hampton, PwC partner and head of real estate deals, said:

"I'm delighted to be joining PwC. PwC has a first-class, market-leading team working with property companies, funds, banks and alternative funders, on high-profile deals across the real estate market. We are seeing an uptick in an appetite to do deals. Both M&A and capital-raising volumes have increased across all sub-sectors, including REITs, property services companies, house builders, hotels, pubs and private equity funds. This is a really exciting time to be leading our team of advisers.

"I have been very impressed by the quality and skills of the people I have met at PwC and, in particular, the breadth and scale of the business. We want to deliver an unparalleled service for our clients and I am excited about the opportunity of working at PwC to find the right solutions to meet our clients' needs."

John Dwyer, PwC’s head of deals and Executive Board member, said:

"Simon is a great addition to our deal-making team. He brings with him a wealth of experience in the real estate industry at a time when our market-leading deals practice is growing quickly."

Craig Hughes, head of PwC’s real estate practice, said:

“I'm thrilled that Simon is joining us. He is well-known as a leading real estate deal-maker and we look forward to working with him to deliver value to our clients and the firm."

The appointment follows the recent expansion of PwC’s real estate practice with appointments to boost its growing asset and investment management services. Simon Marriott, director, a chartered surveyor, joined PwC from Oxford Properties in September 2013 to work with the team providing asset management services. The team advises institutional and private investor clients across all principal property asset classes in the UK and Europe.
