Initiative launched to overhaul global reporting standards

04 August 2010

August has arrived and it’s time for many to switch the brain into neutral and take  advantage of a week or two  on the beach or in the countryside to recharge the batteries. So before we all log off,  I'd like to highlight the formal announcement of the formation of the International Integrated Reporting Committee (IIRC). Its ambition is to move forward the agenda for creating an integrated reporting model, one where sustainability issues which are strategic to an organisation’s long term survival are hard wired into its mainstream reporting. As the press release indicates, this committee comprises some heavyweight individuals with the credentials to make change happen.

You won't be surprised to see the announcement is also covered in the attached article, which is not slow to recognise that this may well be looked back on as a game changing event. Let's hope so.

There's much work to be done by this committee over the next 12 months in moving towards the formal engagement of the G20, whose support and sponsorship is being sought.

Have a great holiday.
