Welsh government invites new tax ideas

06 July 2017

The Welsh government has issued a call for ideas which could be developed into new Welsh taxes under powers in the Wales Act 2014. The Bevan Foundation has already suggested taxes to increase recycling of takeaway packaging and a form of tourism tax. Other ideas include a tax to fund social care, or targeting land-banking through a levy on unused land. A shortlist of submissions will be considered in the autumn.
