r2i hosts MRS Northern Ireland event
12 December 2016
December saw r2i host the latest meeting of the Market Research Society’s (MRS) Northern Ireland Network at PwC’s Google Hive in Belfast.
The event brought together research professionals from across Northern Ireland for a presentation from r2i Senior Manager Julie McClean on the Business of Evidence, an assessment of the size and impact of the UK’s research and evidence market, commissioned by the MRS and conducted by PwC. The presentation was followed by a panel discussion between some of Northern Ireland’s research industry leaders.
Albert Hamilton, Chief Executive of the Belfast-based CARD Group and Chair of the MRS Network in Northern Ireland, commented, “This was a great opportunity for Northern Ireland’s sole-person research departments to come together with larger companies and share new ideas. The key take-away points were demanding evidence in today’s soundbite society, and sharing the fantastic new career directions available in data science. The event reinforced the benefits available from our local MRS network.”
The panel discussion centred on the future of the market research industry, looking in particular at some of its biggest challenges, including what the researcher of the future might look like. Honor Mallon, r2i Partner, said, “This was a brilliant session. The report on the size and dynamics of the industry was very insightful and seemed to resonate with the audience. I thought the panel questions were very robust and I really enjoyed the debate. We have lots of challenges ahead and it is good to look for opportunities to come together as an industry to meet these head on.”
