Private business of the year: Shortlist
20 July 2017
Bon Bon Buddies, Churchill Retirement Living, Firmdale Hotels, GreenTech Distribution, Miller Homes and True Potential are shortlisted for this years’ Private Business of the Year awards
The shortlist for the seventh annual Private Business Awards, sponsored by PwC, demonstrates the private business sector’s strength across UK regions and industries. Finalists include fashion, food, financial services and healthcare companies amongst many others, selected from hundreds of nominees.
We weren’t looking for the largest; we were looking for the best. A company that’s moving forward, with good cash flows, a strong market position, growth in products or services and one that had excelled in 2016. The business had to have a strong long-term strategy, be ambitious in its outlook and vision. They needed to be committed to supporting their local or wider community. Above all we were looking for a British business that may punch above its weight, whether in the UK or on the international stage.
The awards were set up in 2011 to celebrate the best in the private business sector and to underline its importance to the UK economy. The 6 companies shortlisted in this category employ more than 3,000 people and have a combined turnover of £1.2billion. The winners of this year’s awards will be announced on 14th September 2017 at the gala awards at the The Brewery, London.
Brian Henderson, PwC partner sponsor for the UK Private Business Awards said : “The UK Private Business Awards are a fantastic opportunity to take stock and celebrate the talent and success right across the private business sector. The ambition of entrepreneurs and their teams makes this a crucial part of our economy, particularly in an uncertain economic environment. Passion and innovation isn’t confined to a specific region or industry and this year the finalists are from every part of the UK, and from industries as diverse as fashion, construction and financial services.”
