Celebration of Private Business

We are proud to sponsor the Private Business Awards and the inaugural event was held on Thursday 8th September at The Savoy, London. It was a fantastic evening where the enthusiasm and energy of the talented individuals in the room was infectious. I hope in future these awards will simply be known as the 'Diamonds' to reinforce the value of private businesses, the outstanding calibre of their leaders and the rise of social enterprise.

The flagship Private Business of the Year award was strongly contested by some of the UK’s best known names selected from over 300 nominations. Arup, Bibby Line, Dyson, Monsoon, Virgin Active, Wates and William Grant & Sons were all shortlisted for their excellent performance and the judges agonised on everything from the companies’ last 5 years financials to which business they’d be most proud to have built up.

The winner was... Dyson Ltd. Congratulations to Dyson for being an exemplary business that focuses on design and innovation.

The PwC awards demonstrated that the UK’s private business sector is not short of world-class exemplars. The firms have a strong commitment to raising their corporate brand profile to attract better talent. It was also interesting to observe that many of Britain’s 'hidden champions' that the Private Business Awards unveiled were family firms.
