PwC is to create 800 new jobs in a £40m investment in Northern Ireland, the firm announced today.
The investment includes the development and delivery of cloud-based management information services and specialist project management teams delivering worldwide support to PwC’s global clients.
The jobs are aimed primarily at graduates and follow an already successful expansion of PwC activities in Northern Ireland, where the firm has created over 300 jobs over the past two years.
The investment announcement was made today [Wednesday 1 October 2014] by Northern Ireland’s First Minister the Rt. Hon. Peter D. Robinson MLA, deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness MLA and Enterprise, Trade and Investment Minister, Arlene Foster.
Ian Powell, PwC Chairman and Senior Partner, said that it represented PwC’s commitment to supporting and growing its regional practices and support for the firm’s international growth.
“Today’s announcement reinforces our strategy of developing innovative client services that draw on the strength of the UK’s skilled workforce. Economic prosperity needs to be built on growth from all of our UK regions and we will continue to invest in our regional business. Our decision to invest in Northern Ireland reflects our confidence in the strong local talent.”
Today’s investment continues PwC’s commitment to deliver responsible, profitable growth in a balanced and sustainable business. Over the past year, the firm made direct investment of over £200m, part of a wider £750m invested since 2008 to grow and transform the business.
Earlier this month, PwC reported revenue growth of 5% to £2,814 million for the year ended 30 June 2014, up from £2,689m the previous year, with a record recruitment of 2,700 new staff over the same period
