Essentials: Autumn seminars for finance professionalsFollow @PwC_North
We are delighted to invite you to the next series of our Essentials seminar in October.
During the sessions we will cover:
The outlook for the economy is a key issue for business. Over the past year, the economy has experienced slow growth and continued volatility. This is a challenging environment for business planning and decision-making. During this session we will give a UK and global update, and discuss the growth outlook based on the latest PwC forecasts.
Cyber security and the rise of social media - weathering the storm
The use of social media continues its apparently inexorable rise, transforming the way people communicate. In the process, huge and influential companies are appearing (and in some cases disappearing) almost overnight and individuals are putting more and more personal information into the public arena. During this session we will explore the implications of this rapidly evolving environment and look at ways in which your organisation can mitigate some of the key risks.
Are you realising the potential tax values of fixtures in your property?
Legislation introduced by the Finance Act 2012 attaches new conditions for claiming allowances together with new transitional rules that add greater complexity to real estate transactions. There is a need to ensure that appropriate agreements are reached with sellers, due diligence is undertaken and relevant administration is followed. Failure could be costly, and the ability to claim is lost forever. We will use this session to navigate the complexities of this legislation to ensure there is no loss of allowances and therefore, value on future disposals.
In addition to the seminar we are hosting a workshop straight after the seminar:
Additional workshop: The future of pensions - are you ready?
The future role of pensions is a continued debate and many employers are facing challenges in this area. Looking to the future, the majority of employees will receive contributions into a DC scheme for the very first time. Employers need to ensure they get value for their pensions spend, whilst taking the opportunity to ensure that the benefit provided is appropriate.
