New minimum required gross salary levels are known for highly qualified and managerial work permit holders - Belgium

22 November 2016

Each year the minimum required salary for a few work permit categories are indexed/increased. The new amounts as from 1 January 2017 will be 40.124 EUR per year for highly qualified employees and 66.942 EUR per year for managerial employees. For non-EEA employees starting as from 1 January 2017 the assignment letters/employment agreements should already indicate a gross salary which is equal to or exceeds the new minimum threshold.

What this means for you as an employer?

Employers should be mindful of the new minimum required gross salary levels. They should make sure that highly qualified and managerial work permit holders will receive the adequate salaries.
