A CEO’s view of Deauville – Sam DiPiazza
At the end of his Forum session on “Transparency, Trust and Truth”, I caught up with Sam DiPiazza and asked him for his views on this year’s Forum:
"This year felt as if it was a significant step forward from a year ago. The dramatic increase in attendance, with so many more men including high level officials from both government and business, changed the dynamic.
It’s a truly global Forum, with a real cross section of participants. It’s a very interesting dynamic to have a set of conversations around business and societal issues that are dominated by women. It opens new perspectives and validates our view that having women in the discussion creates different, and most often better, answers.
They’ve expanded its touch – the “Rising Talents” programme, the focus on education, the entrepreneurs awards – and this serves to make the experience more meaningful. They are on the journey towards achieving more tangible outputs and takeaways. A year ago, it seemed to be more about women in business... now it’s more about women in society and women’s impact on the world.
The sessions are challenging, and are more about dialogue than concrete actions.
There are two reasons that PwC are here:
- It’s an investment in our women who can participate. They learn we’ve invested in their development; they’ve been able to network with men and women.
- We also support the movement broadly. It’s an investment in the development of business leaders and we want to be part of that.
