RSS is basically a news feed that automatically updates you when a website or weblog publishes new content. As you can subscribe to any number of RSS feeds, you can easily keep up to date with the latest news and information that interests you from a wide variety of online sources.
How do I view RSS feeds?
To view RSS feeds you need an RSS reader. Most of the latest Internet browsers have them built in, enabling you to simply click on any RSS feed to start subscribing. However, there are many standalone RSS readers available (see links below for more information).
How do I subscribe to an RSS feed?
If you are using the latest version of an Internet browser (Internet Explorer 7 onwards for example) you simply click on the RSS feed that you want to follow. For older browser versions or standalone RSS readers, go to a site you want to follow and right-click on the RSS icon (shown above), select "Copy shortcut" and post the link into your reader. Depending on the RSS reader you have, there are various ways to add the feed, such as by dragging the URL of the RSS feed into your reader, or copying and pasting it. Where can I get an RSS reader?
Web-based readers
With web-based readers you don’t have to download any software to your PC, you simply create a free account and start pasting your RSS feeds directly into the web page. Web-based readers are useful as they allow you to manage everything online and enable you to view your news feeds from any computer.
